The Pool Grill @ Marriott Hotel

Little has been said about The Pool Grill at Marriott Hotel and in my encounters with pool grills, there are hits and usually misses. Perched on the fifth floor with a wonderful full view of the swimming pool, it was a perfect way to unwind and unlike some hotels, the pool area was private and surrounded by hotel rooms facing the pool. I have experienced being watched by a dozen prying eyes as I took a dip in Regent's pool because it had both Bascilico and Summer Palace facing it.

Soup of the Day

Cream of cauliflower.

Serrano Ham, Fig, Feta

I have a soft spot for figs, dried and fresh. Having them served with a bread stick, cheese and serrano ham was absolutely delightful.

Pool Grill Caesar Salad

Another one that was a delicious simple recipe of salad greens, shaved parmesan cheese and tossed in dressing.

Pan Roasted Red Snapper
Cauliflower Puree, Escabeshe Dressing

I did not try this but it had a perfectly crispy skin and succulent meat.

Braised Boneless Beef Short Rib
Artichoke Puree, Confit Garlic, Salsa Verdi

This beef short rib fulfilled all of fall off the fork, flavourful and satisfying.

Vanilla Creme Brulee

I thought this had a beautifully torched top but the custard was a tad too stiff for my liking.

Soft Panna Cotta
Chocolate Crumble, Balsamic Strawberry Salad

It wobbled like a Jell-o would and had a really smooth finish. I particularly loved the chocolate crumble beneath that made it extra special.

Expect no fireworks or novel presentations, food at The Pool Grill is earnest and wholesome.

If not, a view like this would be tranquil enough for a meal there.
